Damien Smith was born and raised in Long Beach and has been playing music professionally in Southern California for over 15 years. He has made a career out of being one of the most diverse and skilled players in the area. His ability to play guitar, bass, drums and piano has opened many doors and created opportunities to share his talents.
Damien recognized his passion for music at a young age. Musicianship was both encouraged and enjoyed by Damien's family; he attributes his enthusiasm for guitar to his father as they would often play together. In his youth, Damien's knack for music was reflected through his community participation in school ensembles and church bands. As a teenager, most of his free time was spent practicing, writing songs, or pursuing band opportunities. He joined his first band The Bluesmiths when he was 17 and has been touring and recording with multiple bands since.
In college Damien focused his studies on recording engineering and production before completing his BA in Music. He wrote, recorded and produced the first album for his band TRIPTIC by the time he was 20. Before finishing college Damien had produced three albums, appeared on over ten others and had music featured in several independent films. Damien now has his own studio where he currently works on music and sound design for the film industry as well as producing and engineering records.
When he is not performing or recording music, Damien spends his time conducting private lessons for guitar, drums, bass and piano. He currently has a roster of over 30 students with ages ranging from 4 to 65. His impressive instrumental range and musicality combined with a relaxed articulate approach creates an environment where students can maximize their potential. Several of Damien's students have grown to the point where they are now performing and recording with their own bands.
Damien is constantly working on new projects in the studio and performing all over Southern California.
