Dianna Attard Gray

Dianna received her Bachelor of Music degree and teaching credential from Chapman University in 1989. She has been a string specialist in the Irvine Unified School District for 30 years where she proudly instructs 760 fourth through sixth grade elementary string students at five schools. Mrs. Gray was one of the first teachers involved in implementing the successful "Block Music" program in Irvine which has provided thousands of children with music education. Mrs. Gray was awarded Music Teacher of the Year in 2002, and in 2010, she was nominated for district teacher of the year. In 2017, Mrs. Gray was awarded the Arts Administrators Irene Shoepfle award for outstanding contributions to the arts in Orange County.

As a music director, Mrs. Gray has conducted the Irvine Unified School District Middle School and Elementary Honor Orchestras and has guest conducted The Capistrano Unified School District Middle School and High School Honor Orchestras. She has auditioned musicians and coached for The Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra, The Southern California Youth Orchestra, Aliso Niguel High School, Tesoro High School, and The Las Vegas Unified School District and was the string coach for the Irvine Valley College Symphony from 2005-2011. Mrs. Gray is also the director for the Irvine Unified School District Summer School music program which hosts 180 fourth through eighth grade band and orchestra students in a month long performance based program.

As a string clinician, Mrs. Gray has led many workshops for The California Music Educators Association and The Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association where she is regularly asked to present her string curriculum and methods. In addition to providing workshops for teachers, Mrs. Gray has also served as a master teacher to student teachers who have gone on to become successful teachers in California.

In addition to teaching full time, Mrs. Gray has performed with La Mirada Theater, Saddleback Summer Stock, Fullerton Civic Light Opera, Laguna Beach Playhouse, The Capistrano Symphony, The Yorba Linda Symphony in concert with Doc Severinsen, KLOS radio show in concert with Phantom of the Opera star, Robert Guillaume, and the Southern California Symphony in concert for Pope John Paul II visit to California in 1987.
